Undergraduate Scholarships at the University  of Queensland

Number 1: UQ Ramsay Undergraduate Scholarship

Ramsay Undergraduate Scholarship is an opportunity open to all future students or aspirants who are hoping to apply to obtain a degree at the University of Queensland.

The eligible study area concerned in this scholarship are Arts, humanities and social sciences.

The aim of this scholarship is to promote academic excellence, innovativeness, creativity and hard work, as only qualified applicants would be beneficiaries.

The Value and Duration of the Scholarship

Ramsay Undergraduate Scholarship is valued at $30,000 per year which would be paid to about 30 successful applicants.

The scholarship duration extends to about 5 years.

Eligibility Requirements for the Scholarship

  • An applicant must be an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident
  • An applicant must have completed year 12 in the year of your application or in the year preceding the year of your application
  • An applicant must intend to enrol full-time in the Bachelor of Advanced Humanities (Western Civilisation) (Honours) program or the dual Bachelor of Humanities (Western Civilisation)/Bachelor of Laws (Honours) program
  • An applicant must be expecting to gain admission to the Bachelor of Advanced Humanities (Western Civilisation) (Honours) program or the dual Bachelor of Humanities (Western Civilisation)/Bachelor of Laws (Honours) program
  • An applicant must not have acquired any previous tertiary education while enrolled in a Bachelor-level program
  • An applicant must be willing to participate in an interview with the selection committee on a date set by the University.

Login to the Ramsay UG scholarship page for information on applying. You will need to submit:

  • A CV which must demonstrate your academic achievements
  • Two reference letters
  • A statement demonstrating the selection criteria within the application form – you must respond to three questions based on academic ability, community service and compatibility with the program of study.  Ensure to write up to 1500 characters on each question.
  • A statement addressing any disadvantage (if applicable)
  • Any appropriate supporting evidence.

Other Selection Requirements

  •  Academic standing as evidenced by previous academic results and awards.
  • Profound interest in ideas that have shaped the world
  • A track-record of contributions to your communities
  • Ability to innovate through creativity and critical thinking skills that have affected the world outside your community.
  • Ability to make useful contributions to discussions and debates.
  • Manifest qualities of compassion, empathy, and high regard for ethics
  • Your overall performance at the interview.
  • Preference may be given to applicants who can show, that they represent a disadvantaged or an underrepresented background.

Number 2: Macoun Family Scholarship in Finance

Macoun Family Scholarship in Finance is an opportunity that future students of the University of Queensland can take advantage of. It is specifically targeted at undergraduates who are goal getters and who are ready to make a difference in their world.

The beneficiaries of this scholarship are those who aspire to take a degree in Business and economics in the University of Queensland.

The Value and Duration of the Scholarship

Macoun Family Scholarship is valued at $12,500 per year which would be paid to about 5 successful applicants.

The scholarship duration extends to about 4 years.

Eligibility Requirements for the Scholarship

  • An applicant must be female
  • An applicant must be a domestic student
  • An applicant must have completed high school in a Queensland public school outside of the Brisbane metropolitan area
  • An applicant must be registered, or intend to register, full-time as a commencing student in the Bachelor of Advanced Finance and Economics (Honours) with a declared major in finance.

  • A statement showing your personal commitment to a career in finance, fund management or investment management

Number 3: Torres Strait Islander Education Scholarship

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Scholarship started in 2020.

Its purpose is to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to achieve their educational dreams successfully through completing studies at UQ.

The scholarship also aims to support greater representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in higher education as stated in the UQ Reconciliation Action Plan.

Therefore, current and future students of the University within the eligible category can apply to take advantage of this opportunity.

The study levels targeted are undergraduates and postgraduate coursework.

The Value and Duration of the Scholarship

The Torres Strait Islander Education Scholarship value varied per year. The number of awarded persons also vary.

The scholarship duration is one year.

Eligibility Requirements for the Scholarship

  • Applicants must be of Australian Aborigin and/or Torres Strait Islander person
  • Applicants must be in financial need and should demonstrate same.
  • Applicants must have been admitted and registered in any coursework program in the semester of the award.

Next, Supply a personal statement not exceeding 800 words.

Also, Upload all supporting document that evidences the following:

  • Regional/remote residency

Scholarship Opportunities in the University of Pretoria, South Africa

Number 4: University of Queensland Earmark Scholarship

The University of Queensland Earmark Scholarship is another beautiful scholarship opportunity open to interested and qualified international and domestic students.

The scholarship is intended for academic high-achievers who are creative, intellectually curious and desire to make a difference in the world. It enables this class of persons to undertake a PhD study at the University of Queensland.

Therefore, international and domestic students of the University within the eligible category can apply to take advantage of this opportunity.

The Value and Duration of the Scholarship

This Scholarship pays the full cost of tuition fees and will also provide a monthly allowance of $28,854 for successful students.

This is an effort of the Australian Government to reduce living cost of PhD applicants.

The duration of the a scholarship is about 3 years.

Eligibility Requirements for the Scholarship

Applicants must satisfy the entry requirements of the University of Queensland’s minimum entry for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

Select one of the projects and contact the project supervisor to discuss your interest

Prepare the required documents.

In your application, under the ‘Scholarship and Collaborative study’ section, select:
‘My higher degree is not collaborative’.
‘I am applying for, or have been awarded a scholarship or sponsorship’.

Deadline:

Application for this scholarship is ongoing. There are 4 deadlines. All applicants must ensure that they apply at least 12 weeks before the commencement date.

The academic year for research students is divided into 4 research quarters (RQ).

RQ3 1 July 30 September
RQ4 1 October 30 December

Therefore, application for this scholarship will last all year depending on the chosen project.
