University of Edinburgh PhD Scholarship
Interested and qualified PhD students can apply for scholarships for students starting their PhD research at the University in the 2022-2023 academic session.
The scholarship aims to provide financial support for the brightest students for their PhD, especially those from the most deprived communities in Scotland and other countries of the world.
Scholarship Duration and Award
The scholarship award is full tuition fee and an additional allowance of £16,062p.a
Subject to satisfactory progress, the scholarships are awarded for between three and four years as agreed by the School/Deanery (or pro-rata for part time)
Eligibility for the Scholarship
- All UK and overseas students applying to start their first year of study for an on-campus research degree in 2022-2023 can apply.
- Applicants must have applied for admission to a full-time or part-time on campus PhD research programme of study at the University.
- Applicants must satisfy the Entry Requirements for proposed programme of study, including acceptable English language qualifications.
- Applicants must have a sound academic result and research potential. You must have, or expect to obtain, a UK first class or 2:1 honours degree at undergraduate level or the international equivalent.
- Applicants who have already obtained a PhD, or formal equivalent, as a result of direct research training are ineligible.
