Apart from cutting down on caffeine habit,a pregnant woman should also cut down on soda and energy drink intake and should be cautious of other sources of caffeine such as green tea, chocolate,energy bars,ice creams and yogurts.

Raw seafood results to higher risk of ingesting bacteria and parasites during pregnancy.

It is very important to avoid raw seafood during pregnancy such as clams, oysters,ceviches, carpaccios and fish tartares.It is preferable to eat smoked seafood and also well cooked seafood.

4.unpasteurized diary and juices

This is one food that should be avoided by a pregnant woman. Unpasteurized milk can cause some bacteria such as listeria and pathogens,most cheese are made with unpasteurized milk which is not good to eat during pregnancy.

It is advisable to consume hard cheeses like Swiss or more preferable it’s better to check a cheese label before consumption to know if it made with pasteurized or unpasteurized milk.

5. Raw or underdone eggs

Raw eggs should be avoided during pregnancy and foods which contains raw eggs should be avoided e.g scrambled eggs,home made icecream,raw batter, tiramisu,home made mayonnaise and home made eggnog.

It is very important and safe to ensure that raw eggs are refrigerated and the sell by date hasn’t expired.

6.unwashed fruits and vegetables

It is very important to wash vegetables and fruits before consumption because there are harmful Bacteria such as listeria, salmonella or E.coli which always hide on the body of the fruit or vegetable.

so if the fruits and vegetables are not properly washed these bacteria can inside the flesh when the fruit or vegetable is cut,peeled or juiced.

It is advisable to wash the fruits and vegetables under running water before eating or prepping and if any dirt is spotted it should be scraped with a produce brush and if theres any bruised or damaged area on the fruit it should be cut and thrown out because bruised areas are more likely to harbor bacteria.

7.Raw sprouts

Raw sprouts have higher risk of causing Bacteria during pregnancy such as E.coli and it is safer to eat raw spouts after delivery.

8.Premade deli salad

Deli salad contains pasta, egg, chicken and tuna which can harbor Listeria.

Its preferable to.make your deli salad at home so you could cook the chicken,egg and tuna properly.

9.Alcohol

Its is advisable to avoid taking alcohol during pregnancy because it increases the risk of miscarriage and stillbirth or abnormality of child.

No matter the amount of the alcohol whether little quantity or small it will still have negative impact on the baby’s brain development.

Alcohol during pregnancy can also result to fetal alcohol syndrome which involves facial deformities, intellectual abilities and heart defects.

So it is advisable to avoid alcohol during pregnancy.

10.Processed junk foods

Processes junk foods are low in protein and high in calories,added fats and sugar.

A good pregnancy eating plan should consist mainly of whole foods with plenty Nutrients to fulfill both you and your baby’s needs.

Processed foods during pregnancy can lead to excess weight gain which results to gestational diabetes and birth complications.

It is advisable to add vegetables to your food and other snacks that focus on protein, Vegetables, fruits,healthy fats and fibre rich carbohydrates.
